Shep's Designs believes in supporting the community wherever and whenever it's possible. Compassion International is an organization that Shep's Designs is proud to support.
Compassion International is a Christian Child Development Agency.
In the decades that followed, Compassion's ministry spread to help over half
a million children and their families in nearly 40 countries. Sponsors from the
United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, the Netherlands, Spain
and Italy have joined those in the United States to help children in need.
Today, Compassion's program offers a range of opportunities to children in 22
countries. Working through local Christian fellowships, the program brings
needed interventions including education, physical health and hygiene
instruction, social development, and ongoing Christian training. These opportunities have proven over the years to change the world for both children and their families. As Compassion looks ahead in the new millennium, we still firmly believe that the best investment in the future is in the life of a child. In 1952, evangelist Everett
Swanson was moved by the plight of Korean War orphans he encountered on a tour
to minister to soldiers in South Korea. Challenged to action by what he saw,
Swanson developed a program that allowed caring people in the United States to
'sponsor" a needy Korean child. A few dollars each month from a sponsor would
secure one child shelter, food, medical care, clothing, education, and Bible
training. Swanson's program was the basis for what became Compassion
International.
